Invalid SSL Certificate or No Internet Error
If you encounter errors such as "Invalid SSL Certificate", "No Internet Available", or experience software timeouts and hang-ups, please follow these troubleshooting steps:
Internet Connection Requirement
- Ensure that you have an active internet connection. An internet connection is necessary to initiate the free trial or to activate the software.
Verify Date and Time Settings
- Check the date time and timezone settings on your computer. SSL connections will fail if they do not accurately reflect the current date and time.
- Enable TLS 1.2 on Older Windows
- Go to https://secure.sparkbooth.com using Internet Explorer. In case the site fails to load or displays a certificate warning, it indicates that your operating system requires an update to support the latest security certificate format.
- If you are using Windows 7 or 8, it is imperative to activate the most recent security certificates for internet connections. In Internet Explorer, navigate to Settings > Internet Options > Advanced tab > scroll down to Security and ensure that the following TLS settings are enabled.
- It is recommended to install Internet Explorer 11 along with the latest service packs. Updating the networking system files in older versions of Windows can be achieved by installing Internet Explorer 11.
- Additionally, it is essential to ensure that you have installed all the latest Windows updates to guarantee that the operating system possesses the most recent networking system files necessary to manage the latest security certificate format. Please run Windows Update, and after each update, recheck Windows Update until there are no further updates available.
Anti-virus and Firewall
- Confirm that your anti-virus or firewall software is not blocking Sparkbooth. Adjust settings if necessary to allow the application to connect.
Malware Check
- Ensure your system is free from malware, which could be impacting your internet access.
Windows Configuration
- Internet Explorer Offline Mode: On Windows XP and 7, open Internet Explorer and ensure Offline Mode is disabled. If Internet Explorer is set to Offline Mode, it will prevent the software from connecting to the license server. To disable Offline Mode: - Select the File or Tools menu and uncheck Offline Mode. If you do not see the File or Tools menu, press F10 to display the menu
- For Windows XP, it is recommended to update Internet Explorer and apply the necessary SSL patch. If the version of Internet Explorer is outdated, it may incorrectly flag the security certificate as invalid, preventing the connection to the license server.
- If you are using an older version of Windows, there might be an internet security prompt behind the activation dialog. Press the ESC key to exit fullscreen mode and check for the security prompt. You must allow Sparkbooth to access the license by accepting the security certificate
