Customizing Screen Background

If you want to personalize your Sparkbooth photo booth experience, setting a custom background image on the start screen is a great way to make it unique. Follow this guide to learn how to apply a background image and adjust its display to suit your setup.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Open the Start Screen Settings:

  • Press Ctrl + 2 to open the Start Screen settings dialog in Sparkbooth.

Select Custom Background:

  • In the settings panel on the left, locate the Theme section.
  • Click on Custom Background from the dropdown menu to enable background customization options.

Choose Your Background Image:

  • In the Custom Background Settings panel on the right, click the folder icon to browse and upload your desired background image.
  • Note: if you want to fill the entire screen, it is recommended to use an image that is the same size as the resolution of your monitor

Select Display Option and/or Background Color:

  • Once you've selected a background image, choose a Display Option to control how the image appears on the screen:
    • Tile: Repeats the image in a tiled pattern to cover the entire background.
    • Center: Places the image in the center of the screen at its original size.
    • Fill: Scales the image to cover the entire background area, which may crop parts of the image.
    • Fit: Adjusts the image to fit within the screen without cropping, adding empty spaces if the image aspect ratio differs from the screen.
    • Stretch: Stretches the image to fill the entire background, which can distort its appearance.
  • You can also set a Background Color to show through any empty spaces if the image doesn’t completely cover the screen.

Tips for Choosing a Display Option

  • Tile works well with small, repeating patterns for a seamless look.
  • Center is ideal for logos or single images you want to showcase without stretching or distortion.
  • Fill is best for high-resolution images that cover the entire screen without focusing on exact dimensions.
  • Fit is useful for images with important details that shouldn't be cropped.
  • Stretch should be used cautiously, as it can warp images, making it better suited for abstract backgrounds rather than detailed graphics.

By following these steps, you can easily set a custom background image in Sparkbooth, adding a personalized touch to your photo booth's start screen. Enjoy customizing!
