Resolving DSLR Crashes
Sparkbooth DSLR may crash if there is a camera error when taking a photo. To minimize the risk of crashes, follow these recommendations:
- Use Manual Focus:
- Auto Focus can struggle to achieve focus, leading to focus lock errors. Instead, use Manual Focus. If Auto Focus is necessary, enable Quick mode to reduce the chances of focus lock errors.
- Here is a good tutorial on how to set up your camera for manual mode and focus.
- Use Manual Mode:
- Automatic modes like P mode can cause issues if the camera cannot adjust the ISO, shutter speed, or aperture, especially in low light. Use Manual mode and adjust the camera settings according to the environment and lighting. If you must use an automatic mode, ensure the area is well-lit.
- Check Shutter Speed:
- Ensure the shutter speed is as short as possible. Long shutter speeds, especially bulb mode, can cause camera errors.
- Ensure Proper Power Supply:
- Use an external power adapter to ensure the camera has sufficient power. Low battery levels can cause issues. Avoid using a non-powered USB hub, as it can lead to connection problems. Do not power the camera through the computer's USB port, as this can also cause connection issues.
- Adjust Delay Settings:
- Some camera models may be slow to receive the next command. Adjust the delay settings in the camera settings dialog (press
Ctrl-3
to display), and open the Advanced Settings.- Increase the Pre Live View Delay if the crash occurs when Live View is turning on.
- Increase the Post Live View Delay if the crash occurs when taking the photo.
Increase the Error Delay if you are experiencing general camera errors.
