Set Up Printing in MacOS

To set up printing on macOS for "4 x 6 photo paper," configure all printer settings through the Printer System Preferences. Settings accessed via the Test and Setup buttons in Sparkbooth do not persist after the application restarts. Follow these steps:

  1. Configure Sparkbooth Printing Settings:
    • Open Sparkbooth and press F1 to display the Settings dialog.
    • Select Printing options.

    • Check Enable printing if you want to automatically print during each session.
    • Click the "Printer setup" link to navigate to Settings > Printer Setup and select your printer.

    • Press the Setup button to display the setup dialog, and select the printer, paper size, and orientation.

    • If your printer does not have an option for 4 x 6 paper (it may be named differently), select "Paper Size" and then "Manage Custom Sizes".

    • Press "+" to add a custom size for 4 x 6 photo paper.

    • Once completed, press OK and close the Settings dialog.
  1. Set Default Printer and Paper Size in macOS:
    • Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners to set the default printer and paper size.

  1. Additional Printer Settings:
    • If you need to configure other printer settings that were not available in the printer setup dialog, go back to Sparkbooth Settings > Printing options and press the Test button. This will display the print dialog.
    • Press the down arrow next to the selected printer to display printer-specific settings.
    • After finishing, press Print to save the settings. If you do not want to print a test layout, turn off the printer and delete the print job from the printer queue.

If Printing Issues Persist:

If you are still unable to print, your printer may have specific settings that cannot be set to default through System Settings. You may need to set up the printer each time you start Sparkbooth:

  1. Go to Sparkbooth Settings.
  2. Select Printing options.
  3. Press the Setup button to display the Setup dialog. Select your printer and paper size, then press OK to close the Setup dialog.
  4. Press the Test button to display the Print dialog. Ensure your printer is selected and configure other printer-specific settings via the Properties button. Press Print to test the setup.
  5. Note that these printer-specific settings cannot be saved and reused between restarts, so you will need to repeat these steps to reconfigure the printer each time you start Sparkbooth.
  6. Additionally, try toggling the "Automatically scale photo to fit paper size" and/or "Center layout on paper" options in Sparkbooth's printing settings.
