Using Counters


The Counter feature in Sparkbooth allows you to track specific activities during your photo booth event, such as the number of prints, sessions, uploads, emails, or mobile text messages. It helps you monitor usage and manage event limits.


The counter settings are available:

  • Under Settings > Counters
  • From the main screen by pressing ctrl-4 to display the pop up dialog

Why would I use the Counter feature?

The Counter feature is useful for:

  • Monitoring and limiting resource usage at an event.
  • Ensuring that session goals are met.
  • Controlling costs by limiting printing or uploads.
  • Automating booth closure after a certain number of sessions.

What types of counters can I track?

You can track the following counter types:

  • Prints: Number of printed photo layouts.
  • Sessions: Number of photo booth sessions started or completed.
  • Uploads: Number of photo uploads to a specified service.
  • Emails: Number of photos sent via email.
  • Mobile Texts: Number of photos sent via text messages.

What are the available counter actions or triggers?

There are four counter trigger types:

  1. Count only: Tracks the count but does not take any additional action.
  2. Notification: Displays a notification when the counter reaches its limit.
  3. Close mode: Closes the photo booth automatically when the counter reaches the set limit.
  4. Disable printing: Prevents further printing when the limit is reached.

How do I set a maximum limit for a counter?

  1. Enable a counter by selecting its checkbox.
  2. Click on the counter to expand its settings.
  3. Select the desired trigger type (e.g., Notification, Close mode, or Disable printing).
  4. Enter the maximum limit in the "Counter limit/goal" field.
  5. Save your settings.

How do I reset a counter?

  • Click the Reset counter to 0 button (circular arrow icon) next to the counter you wish to reset.

How do I display the counter overlay on the screen?

To display the counter on the screen:

  1. Click the Toggle display on overlay button (eye icon) for the desired counter.
  2. The counter will appear in the lower-right corner of the screen during operation.

How do I add a custom counter?

  1. Click the Add custom counter button (plus icon at the bottom of the counter list).
  2. Select the activity you want to track from the dropdown menu (e.g., Prints, Sessions).
  3. Customize the settings as needed.

Can I delete a counter?

  • Click the trash can icon next to the counter you wish to remove.

Can I update the current counter value manually?

Yes. You can manually update a counter's value:

  1. Click on the counter to expand its settings.
  2. Enter the new value in the "Current counter value" field.
  3. Click the checkmark to save.

What happens when a counter reaches its limit?

If you set a limit for the counter:

  • For Notification: A message will appear notifying you that the limit has been reached.
  • For Close mode: The photo booth will automatically close.
  • For Disable printing: Further printing will be disabled.
