Resolving "Printer Error" Notifications
If you are seeing a "Printer error" notification when printing from Sparkbooth, it could be due to several issues:
- Verify USB Port Connection:
- Ensure the USB printer is plugged into the same USB port. Some printer drivers require the printer to be connected to the same port each time. Plugging the printer into a different port may create a new instance of the printer in the printers list, causing prints to be sent to the wrong port.
- Use a Powered USB Hub:
- If you are using a USB hub, ensure it is a powered USB hub. An unpowered hub may not provide sufficient power, leading to weak connections for USB devices.
- Minimize USB Usage:
- Disconnect unnecessary USB devices to reduce USB usage. If you are using a USB hub, make sure the power adapter is plugged in. Excessive power draw from the USB ports can cause devices to temporarily disconnect.
- Check CPU Usage:
- Open Task Manager on Windows and check the CPU usage. If the CPU is hitting 100%, it may not be powerful enough and can interfere with the printer's operation.
- Print to Printer Queue:
- Ensure that the printer is set up to print to the printer queue instead of printing directly to the printer. Printing directly may lead to errors if the printer is currently busy processing a print job.
- Try Using Windows Viewer:
- Consider using the Windows Viewer print setting to see if it resolves the issue.
- Enable Print Retries Settings
- Navigate to the Settings > Printer Setup and adjust the print retry limit. In the event of a printer error, the system will attempt to print again within the specified number of retries.
As a workaround, you can reprint photos after the photo session is over.
